High Sales Rate and Toy Drive Make Season Bright at Brasher’s Portland

High percentage end-of-year sales and a community effort to make Christmas bright for area children brought smiles to the faces of young and old at Brasher’s Portland Auto Auction in December.

“We had a terrific month at the auction in December,” reports auction general manager Jerry Hinton. “While the industry traditionally sees volumes decline and sales soften as we approach the holidays, the lanes were busy right up to Christmas at Brasher’s Portland in 2012. We averaged a 50% sale rate every week across the board, with new car store consignment sales reaching 60% and bank and finance sales topping 70%. The market was strong, and shows every sign of continuing into the New Year.”Dick Hannah Grab Bag at Brasher's Portland Auto Auction

Hinton notes that one of the holiday highlights at Brasher’s was Hannah Motor Company’s Holiday Grab Bag. Every dealer purchasing from Hannah Motor Company chose a wrapped present, choosing from more than $1,000 in prizes ranging from Christmas candy and cookies to gift cards, Brasher’s coats, pen sets, and even karaoke machines.

But the high point of the holiday season at Brasher’s Portland was the 2012 Toy Drive, held in partnership with KGW TV in Portland. Auction customers and employees joined together to raise $3,700 in gifts for children living in the greater Portland area. The toys collected at Brasher's Portland added to the community effort headed by KGW TV in Portland

“It was heartwarming to see how we all worked as an auction family to make Christmas a little brighter for those who are less fortunate,” said Hinton. “We watched as week after week our own toy collection filled the auction lobby. But the real thrill was the day we took the toys down to the TV station. We were amazed to see how many toys had been collected, and it really hit home to see what we can do as community when we work together.”

“Knowing that we were part of something to help make Christmas more special for those among us who are less fortunate was a highlight of the season for us, and we’ll definitely want to make it a holiday tradition in coming years at Brasher’s Portland Auto Auction,” said Hinton.
